Style Tips for the Style Conscious
Remember, the most important step toward developing your personal style is wear accessories that you truly love - and coloured Gem stones offer something special for everyone.
Match your jewellery to the size of your body and features. Generally, small pieces gets lost on a large figure, while bold jewelry can overpower the petite. Find the right proportions for your frame.
Drop Gem Stone earrings can elongate your neck and face and make you look taller, but styles that are too long can have the opposite effect. A safe length is just below the jaw line.
One or two statement jewels can add just the right pop of colour to a neutral outfit. Have something glam that you love for special occasions: pearl jewelry and natural stones will look stunning against jewel tones or metallics-such as chandelier beaded earrings and a cocktail ring, or earrings and a cuff.
Simple garments are ideal for wear tons of jewellery without seeming overly dressed up.
Jewellery like brooches and long chain necklaces work double duty as belt buckles/belts to add a feminine touch to menswear-inspired pieces.
Bold pieces are the only way to carry bold dresses. Think chandelier earrings, oversize cocktail ring , and wide cuff bracelets. One exception: Delicate pendants are hot right now, and they can work with a bold style if you pair them with dramatic earrings or a big bracelet in a similar style.
Don't overwhelm your look with jewellery in the same colour as your dress-that's too much of a good thing. Pick one or two standout pieces pearl jewelry and natural stones will look stunning against jewel tones or metallics-such as chandelier earrings and a cocktail ring, or earrings and a cuff. Don't do a bold necklace and chandelier earrings, however; that's too much bling too close together.
But most important, the best trend to follow is whatever works best for you! Follow your style. Fortunately, coloured Gem Stones give you lots of choices.
So, don't be afraid to let your true colours shine through. And this year more than ever, the look is all about colour! Wear colours and designs that bring out the best in you.
Last point to keep in mind when you're buying jewelry: Unlike your dress or dyed shoes, jewellery is something you will wear throughout your life and maybe even pass down to a daughter or granddaughter. So if you splurge a bit on, say, a classic piece such as a black pearl necklace, don't worry, you will definitely have countless opportunities to wear it throughout your life.
Don't overspend on trendy pieces, though. They're not worth the investment. A big faux emerald cocktail Ring probably won't be in fashion forever, but good quality classic beaded necklace or pair of fine beautiful amber earrings will stand the test of time.
Wear the Right Necklace Lengths

Have you even seen someone who is dressed to the nines, yet something seems somehow off? Wearing the wrong length necklace with a particular neckline is probably the most common mistake women make when it comes to wearing jewelry. Here are some simple guidelines for getting it right.
- Collar necklaces should lie snugly around the middle of the neck, and can be worn with V-neck, boat-neck and off-the-shoulder tops.
- Chokers fall perfectly at the base of the neck, and look great with strapless or plunging necklines.
- Princess length necklaces (17 to 19 inches) fall just below the throat. This is the most common and versatile length of necklace. It can be worn with most necklines except the high ones. Add a pendant and wear with a V-neck for a pretty look.
- Matinee length necklaces (20 to 24 inches) hit the top of the bust, and it's best not to wear this length with plunging necklines. If the necklace hits the very top of your neckline, it will be fighting for attention with your top.
- Opera length necklaces (28 to 34 inches) fall below the bust and look great with a very high neckline. They can be worn from day to evening. This length can also be doubled for a multi-strand look.
Consider Your Age and Body Type
Just as a piece of jewelry can accentuate the positive, it can also draw attention to your not-so-positive areas.
- Chokers are made for women with more youthful skin. Women with aging necks will want longer chains and necklaces to draw attention away from any neck imperfections.
- If you have a wide neck, you can balance that by wearing graduated necklaces, which are very thin around the side of the neck and larger below the collarbone.
- If you have a long, thin neck that you don't want to accentuate, try a triple-strand necklace, with the shortest strand hugging the base of the throat. Avoid V-shaped chains.
Jewelry is woman's best friend. It brings out her beauty in the most elegant manner. She may have a large gamut of earrings, bangles, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, nose-pins, rings and armlets in her collection. But now men have also headed their way to the jewelry section. Thus no exclusive reservation of women is allowed.
